Drug AddictionsIn today's society, drug addictions are unfortunately very common. Hard core drugs have entered the social scene and have become frequently used and abused. The term drug addiction is extremely broad and covers a wide range of addictions. Some of the more common drug addictions include, alcohol addiction, cocaine addiction, ecstasy addiction, and prescription drug addiction. Each of these types of addictions has their own set of symptoms and treatments, but they all share a tie of life shattering side effects and consequences. Below are the symptoms of some of the more common addictions. Alcohol addiction is the addiction to alcoholic substances. Some of the symptoms of alcohol addiction are the craving for something alcoholic to drink, a loss of control over alcoholic limitations at an occasion, the feeling of alcohol as a necessity to function properly, and the need to drink greater amounts in order to “get high”. Cocaine addiction is another serious drug addiction. This product is made from the extractions of substances from the coca bush and is mixed with harsh products such as cement and bleach. Some of the symptoms of cocaine use and addiction include increased amounts of energy to an unusual level, a huge decrease in appetite, increase in blood pressure and the feeling of the heart pumping out of control, and dilated pupils. Ecstasy is another drug that many people become addicted to and that is very harmful. Many people have died do to the side effects of ecstasy, even on the first attempt at taking the drug. Some signs that someone is on ecstasy include an increased sense of trust; increase feelings, both physical and emotional, and the ability to feel invisible. If you know someone who is presenting signs of addiction, it is important to get them help and try to have them realize their addiction. While some people believe drugs are just a good time, the trust is that drug addiction can be deadly. © 2005-2008 Drug Abuse Research Today. All Rights Reserved. |
